BIO
Marinel Burduja is the President of Atrium MB Advisors. He has a career spanning over three decades in the financial and banking sectors in Romania and regionally. He has received numerous awards and widespread recognition for his work.
He initiated, led, and finalized the creation and launch of the Romanian Credit and Investments Bank, one of the most complex M&A transactions in Romania in 2013. Previously, he served as First Vicepresident and Deputy CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Romania for over a decade, leading the bank’s corporate division between 2001 and 2012. He was also Vicepresident and Head of Corporate Division of ABN AMRO (1998-2001) and Senior Vicepresident of Creditanstalt in Romania (1996-1998). Between 1994 and 1996, he was Vicepresident of the Romanian Foreign Trade Bank (BRCE). Before that, he served as CEO of Christian Dior in Romania (1993-1994). In 1992, he founded 1992 BRCE – Piatra Neamț branch.
Between 1990 and 1991, he had a high-profile public career. He became the first elected mayor of the municipality of Piatra Neamț after the 1989 Revolution, and was also the founding president of the Federation of Romanian Municipalities. In the summer of 1990, he ran and was elected as an independent Member of Parliament. He served as the Vicepresident of the Foreign Affairs Committee. In October 1991, he resigned his seat in Parliament, dedicating himself fully to the banking career he had started as early as 1986 at the Romanian Investment Bank.
Marinel Burduja graduated from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, specializing in International Economic Affairs. He is also a graduate of the Law University of Bucharest, with a license in International Law.
